Class Conversations - The American Landscape, with Field Horne
Our next Class Conversation will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 8pm EDT. Field Horne will be presenting as follows:
“For over 40 years Sheafe Satterthwaite taught “The American Landscape” at Williams. Last fall I developed a similar course to offer at Skidmore in a one-semester appointment as Lecturer on History. We explored the effect of human agency on our built environment, from Indigenous practices to superhighways, with weekly fieldtrips to explore nearby expressions of these forces. In the class Zoom, I will discuss a series of slides taken directly from the class (though pretty much one per topic rather than thirty) to give you a taste of how we can better understand our material culture. A bibliography will be available to those who request it.”
